4 infill types
# Which infill for your balustrade

The infill — balusters, scrollwork, panels — weighs as much on the budget as the load-bearing structure itself, and sets most of the style.

## The gap rule applies at any point in the pattern

### An open pattern can exceed 11 cm without it being obvious

Very open scrollwork or a dense decorative pattern can exceed the regulatory threshold without it being visible before fitting. See our [regulations page](https://gloriette-fer-forge.fr/en/guard-rail-regulations/) .

Every pattern is checked by the workshop before fabrication, not after delivery — and a mixed pattern (scrollwork on top, straight balusters below) remains possible.

## About infills
Can two infill types be mixed on the same balustrade?
Yes, for example scrollwork on the upper section and straight balusters below — a combination to specify at the quote stage, which affects the final price.
Is glass a common wrought iron infill?
Yes, a glass panel paired with a wrought iron structure is a frequent contemporary choice — it falls under the "panels" category in our price grid.
